103H7523-7021 is a Sanyo Denki stepper motor. Stepper motors move in discrete steps. This is unlike the continuous rotation of rotary motors. Movement in defined steps allows precise position control. In contract to position sensors on rotary motors that allow position control, stepper motors allow accurate position without any position sensor. This open-loop control – without feedback systems – is more cost-effective and reduces capital and operating expenditures. Stepper motors are controlled by step drivers that provide electrical pulses for motor control. Each pulse causes the motor to move by a single step and a pulse train can be used to make it advance by a number of steps. Step motors provide high torque at low speeds. The brushless design ensures high reliability and durability. The designed step angle for the 103H7523-7021 motor is 0.72 degrees.

It uses permanent magnets to create the stepped movement. When stationary the motor holds its position and its holding torque is 1.568 Nm.
