It uses a unipolar winding supplied by a dedicated chopper drive, making it suitable for installations where position feedback is unnecessary. The hybrid rotor design combines permanent-magnet and variable-reluctance principles to provide consistent incremental movement under properly controlled phase current.
The basic step angle is 1.8°, so 200 full steps complete one mechanical revolution, while microstepping controllers can produce finer increments. The motor provides a holding torque of 0.49 N·m to keep the shaft stationary while the phases are energized.
