The three-phase winding set is energized sequentially to produce controlled shaft rotation without requiring position feedback.
The motor’s fundamental increment is a 1.2° basic step, so 300 full-step pulses rotate the shaft through one mechanical revolution. Each phase draws a steady 3 A per phase under rated conditions; this current establishes the flux required for the stator teeth to lock the rotor and determines the required capacity of the associated drive transistors. With a static holding capability of 0.196 N·m, the rotor resists back-driving when the windings are energized and stationary. Acceleration from rest is limited by a 2,000-pulse-per-second maximum starting rate; exceeding this threshold can cause a loss of synchronization because inductive reactance and the 0.84 Ω per phase winding resistance restrict the available torque rise.
