The Sanyo Denki 103H5208-0458 motor, part of the StepSyn Stepping Motors series, is a 2 Phase Hybrid Stepping Motor. In order to improve the torque, the following aspects were taken into account. By reducing the amount of increase in rotor inertia while simultaneously increasing the torque, the outer diameter of the rotor was modified in order to achieve the desired effect. It was decided to go with a rotor construction that provides rotor inertia that is comparable to that of the standard versions.

A determination was made about the dimensions of each magnetic channel in order to avoid a reduction in the increased torque that was brought about by the modification of the rotor and to ensure that the winding area was as big as feasible. According to the results of these measurements, the characteristics that are shown in Table 1 have been achieved. Increasing the torque is one of the aspects that is required in order to increase the speed of the different devices that are used by consumers. Additionally, reducing the winding resistance is an efficient method for reducing the amount of power that is used and temperatures that develop.
