The 103F7853-70XB41 is a two-phase stepping motor with an attached mechanical holding brake, supplied by Sanyo Denki under the StepSyn Stepping Motors series. It converts indexer pulses into discrete 1.8° steps for positioning cylinders, pick-and-place heads, small conveyors, and similar automated mechanisms. The normally closed brake clamps the shaft whenever brake power is removed, helping the driven load maintain its position during a power interruption. Because the motor produces torque in precise angular increments, it can support open-loop positioning without encoder feedback when the application remains within the motor’s operating capabilities.
The motor has a 60 mm square frame, and its overall length with the brake is 126.7 mm. The shaft supports a radial side load of up to 80 N, allowing properly aligned pulleys and other transmission components to be mounted without exceeding the bearing limit. It also accommodates an axial thrust load of up to 20 N when connected to a lead screw or another mechanism that applies force along the shaft. The rotor has a moment of inertia of 1 × 10⁻⁴ kg·m², which must be considered when setting acceleration and deceleration profiles.
