It converts indexer pulses into discrete 1.8° steps for positioning cylinders, pick-and-place heads, small conveyors, and similar automated mechanisms. The normally closed brake clamps the shaft whenever brake power is removed, helping the driven load maintain its position during a power interruption. Because the motor produces torque in precise angular increments, it can support open-loop positioning without encoder feedback when the application remains within the motor’s operating capabilities.
