Product Description:
The PMM-CS-404E is a motor driver by Sanyo Denki. It is part of the PM driver series optimized for accurate and low-vibration motion control systems. The PMM motor driver meets industrial EMC and insulation standards. Its housing includes grounding points for noise suppression and safety compliance.
The PMM-CS-404E motor driver operates on 200 to 240 VAC input voltage and 50/60 Hz frequency. Its rated current is 1.6 A suitable for mid-range motors and has a power rating of 200 Watts. The PMM motor driver supports both chassis and DIN rail mounting and has integrated protection from overvoltage, overload and undervoltage. The PMM motor driver uses internal temperature sensing to activate thermal protection at 80°C. Its output stages are configured for 5-phase bipolar stepper motor connection and its control interface accepts opto-isolated step and direction pulse signals. The PMM motor driver’s selectable input modes include 1-pulse and 2-pulse signal formats. Its input signal voltage range supports 5 V TTL logic with photocoupler isolation. The PMM motor driver accepts up to 100 kHz pulse frequency for high-speed operation and the step angle division is configurable via onboard DIP switch settings. It supports full-step, half-step and fine micro stepping resolutions. The PMM motor driver features a PD input to enable or disable motor excitation and the alarm output is provided through a relay contact rated for 24 VDC use.
The PMM-CS-404E motor driver’s front panel LEDs indicates power, pulse, phase origin and alarm status. The alarm LED is activated under fault conditions such as overheat or overload. Its internal logic circuitry is powered by an isolated switch and uses heatsink fins for natural convection cooling. The PMM motor driver has transparent protection shield cover for high-voltage terminals. It interfaces with Sanyo Denki SANMOTION F5 five-phase stepper motors.
Frequently Asked Questions about PMM-CS-404E:
Q: Why is opto-isolation used for the PMM-CS-404E’s control inputs?
A: Opto-isolation prevents electrical noise from affecting the logic signals and ensures stable pulse communication. This isolation enhances the reliability of long-distance control wiring.
Q: Why does the PMM-CS-404E have a transparent terminal shield?
A: It provides visual access for maintenance while preventing accidental contact with high-voltage terminals. This ensures both operational safety and service efficiency.
Q: How does the internal temperature sensing benefit the PMM-CS-404E motor driver?
A: It triggers a thermal shutdown at 80°C to protect the driver and motor. This reduces the risk of component failure under high-load conditions.
Q: What’s the advantage of supporting both 1-pulse and 2-pulse input formats in PMM-CS-404E?
A: It allows flexible interfacing with various motion controllers. The feature enhances system compatibility without additional converters.
Q: Why does the PMM-CS-404E support up to 100 kHz pulse frequency?
A: Higher pulse frequencies allow finer step resolution at high speeds. This ensures faster operation without sacrificing accuracy.
