The PBM603DGEC20 is a gear-integrated servo motor produced by Sanyo Denki for the PB SANMOTION Servo Motors series. Designed for DC multi-axis drive systems, the assembly combines a permanent-magnet motor with a precision planetary reducer to deliver controlled motion in conveyor indexing equipment, small robotic systems, and semiconductor fixtures. Integrating the gearbox simplifies the mechanical layout and provides the torsional stiffness needed for closed-loop motion tasks in industrial automation. The compact assembly also reduces the number of separate components required between the motor and the driven load.
The gearbox has an allowable output torque of 3 N·m and supports a radial bearing load of up to 100 N. It also withstands up to 30 N of axial thrust at the coupling. The backlash of 0.25 degrees limits lost motion, which helps maintain repeatability during positioning movements. The 1:10 reduction ratio multiplies motor torque at the output shaft while reducing its rotational speed. With this ratio, the driven member must not exceed the allowable output speed of 180 rpm. The low-backlash gear design supports bidirectional operation, and the reverse rotation arrangement causes a positive motor command to produce counterclockwise output-shaft motion.
Feedback is supplied by an incremental encoder with a Z-phase index pulse and a resolution of 800 P/R, providing accurate position references to the controller. Mounting uses a 60 mm square flange, and the complete assembly weighs 1.22 kg for installation on compact multi-axis gantries. A rotor inertia of 0.4 × 10^-4 kg·m² supports rapid acceleration when the motor is operated by a compatible DC multi-axis amplifier. The dedicated DC power architecture reduces the amount of cabling required between the power source, amplifier, and motor. The encoder index pulse also supports repeatable homing without requiring an external position sensor.
