Internal Product Review

The KA511XXX is a Sanyo Denki K SANMOTION servo motor with 110 W rated output and 3000 min-1 rated speed. Low rotor inertia of 0.37 ×10-4 kg·m2 and a 0.63 ms electrical time constant support crisp response in precision motion applications. A 3.4 N·m peak stall torque makes the unit a strong choice for compact servo axes.

Product Description:

The KA511XXX is a brushless servo motor produced by Sanyo Denki within the K SANMOTION Servo Motors series. In automated machinery, it supplies closed-loop rotary actuation so motion controllers can position loads with repeatable accuracy and fast acceleration. A square 54 mm flange provides the mechanical interface for mounting the motor to compact machine assemblies. Its mass of 0.90 kg helps limit the load added to lightweight axes.

The motor provides a continuous stall torque of 0.42 N·m, which is the load it can sustain while energized without shaft rotation. During normal operation, it sustains a shaft torque of 0.35 N·m at the rated operating point. The shaft turns at 3000 rpm under these conditions, producing a mechanical output of 110 W. The electromagnetic circuit is energized by a drive that supplies 75 V DC. At this voltage, the electrical time constant of 0.63 ms allows current to rise rapidly for responsive control. The stator windings have an inductance of 3.0 mH and a resistance of 4.8 Ω, which affect current ripple and copper loss under pulse-width modulation. The back electromotive force gradient is 20.8 × 10⁻³ V/(min⁻¹), providing the drive with information used for servo commutation.

The motor supports a maximum speed of 5000 rpm during dynamic operation. Beyond this speed, the available bus voltage is increasingly consumed by back electromotive force, limiting further acceleration. For short acceleration periods, the motor can produce a peak stall torque of 3.4 N·m, providing substantial torque above its continuous capacity. The servo drive must supply up to 2.0 A of RMS current at the operating point. The torque constant is 0.20 N·m/A, indicating the torque produced for each ampere of motor current. Rotor inertia is 0.37 × 10⁻⁴ kg·m², allowing the motor to respond quickly when coupled to low-inertia loads. This combination supports precise motion in pick-and-place heads, compact conveyor stations, and light indexing tables.
