Product Description:
The KA404XS0 is a brushless servo motor produced by Sanyo Denki for the K SANMOTION Servo Motors series. The unit is sized for compact positioning axes used in pick-and-place arms, optical stages, and miniature conveyors. It mounts through a 42 mm square flange that aligns with common metric gearheads and tables. By combining permanent-magnet torque generation with an integrated incremental encoder, the motor delivers closed-loop motion control in miniature automation equipment.
Under continuous load, the windings operate at 72 V with a rated phase current of 0.9 A. Together with an armature resistance of 16.8 Ω, these values determine copper loss and allow the drive to calculate thermal limits accurately. The motor produces 40 W of mechanical power while rotating at 3000 rpm, which corresponds to a continuous torque of 0.13 N·m. A torque constant of 0.174 N·m/A gives the controller a linear relationship between phase current and shaft torque. Feedback is supplied by an incremental encoder with a resolution of 2000 pulses per revolution. Its line-driver circuit supports noise-resistant differential signaling at response frequencies up to 200 kHz, allowing the servo amplifier to maintain accurate position and velocity control.
The motor provides a peak stall torque of 0.76 N·m, allowing short bursts at nearly six times the continuous torque for acceleration or holding. The laminated rotor has an inertia of 0.084 × 10⁻⁴ kg·m², so it can reverse quickly when connected to low-mass loads. The enclosure meets the IP43 protection code, guarding the interior against objects larger than 1 mm and water sprayed at an angle. The assembly weighs 0.55 kg, which minimizes moving mass in gantry heads and indexing tables. Its low rotor inertia supports rapid directional changes, while the compact flange makes the motor suitable for machinery with limited installation space.
