Product Description:

Pacific Scientific manufactures the SCE906A2-002-01 as part of the SCE900 Servo Drives series. This servo drive converts three-phase line power into controlled, variable-frequency output for brushless servo motors used in positioning tables, packaging lines, and other motion systems that require tight velocity and torque regulation. It is suited for closed-loop servo applications where stable current control and fast response are needed during repeated starts, stops, and speed changes. The control section regulates motor behavior while the power section supplies the required output.

The power section accepts a three-phase input of 180–528 VAC, allowing operation on a wide range of global mains voltages without a step-down transformer. During continuous operation the inverter can deliver 22.5 ARMS to the motor windings, and it can support short bursts up to 33.8 ARMS for acceleration or shock loading. This combination supports applications that need stable running torque with extra current available for brief peak demands. A power-stage efficiency of 97% limits heat generation, so more of the incoming energy reaches the motor instead of being lost as heat inside the drive. The internal IGBT bridge switches at 16 kHz, which helps reduce audible noise and supports smoother current control at low speed. Forced-air cooling with a 240 VAC fan removes remaining losses and keeps internal components within a controlled temperature range.

The current ratings support a continuous mechanical output of 18 kW at the nominal 480 VAC bus, while intermittent demands can be met with up to 27 kW during rapid indexing moves. To protect the bus capacitors, the drive can absorb 144 J of regenerated energy and dissipate it through an onboard resistor rated at 250 W over extended operation. Higher braking surges are limited to a 10 percent duty cycle to prevent resistor overheating during repeated deceleration events. The braking circuit is built into the drive, so regenerated energy can be managed internally during normal cyclic motion. This helps the unit handle high-inertia loads without requiring an external braking module in many installations.
