The industrial automation field has been growing in popularity. Factories and machinery are still prevalent and important today. Since there are so many factories and companies needing fast and efficient machines to do many different applications, there are also many different industrial automation companies globally. Kollmorgen has been around for over two decades. With an abundance of years of experience and knowledge, this automation company has been excellently producing and manufacturing servo drives, servo controllers, and servo motors. While Kollmorgen is flourishing as a stand-alone company, this company did at one point buy Pacific Scientific which has since branched off to do their own work in various diverse types of industries. Although the companies were once together, Kollmorgen has rebranded its products to their own name.
One of the companies products which went through this rebranding is the SC902TN-001-01. This particular piece is a single-axis resolver-based servo drive from the SC900 series. While there are several products in this series, they are all unique and have different functions. This particular piece has a continuous power rating of 3.75 Amps.
This number is relatively low when compared to the larger continuous rated power in this series, 30 Amps. While it is low, it does not indicate anything negative. This particular product is simply suited for medium powered machinery. Every piece in the SC900 series has the potential of having an option card installed. The SC902TN-001-01 does not come with an option card already installed. A safety feature engineered into this device is the convection cooling method. This cooling method protects the servo drive from overheating, which leads to damage and potential harm to the user.
