The SC902-001-01 servo drive is produced by Pacific Scientific and belongs to the SC900 Servo Drives series. It operates as a power stage between a motion controller and a permanent-magnet servo motor, supplying regulated current that translates directly into motor torque. By combining speed feedback from an external encoder with internal current loops, the unit supports accurate closed-loop motion in factory automation cells that must repeat moves precisely while using limited cabinet space.
With convection cooling at 25 °C, the drive delivers a continuous output of 3.75 A, meaning the motor windings can receive this current indefinitely without the heat sink exceeding its rating. Under the same ambient condition with a three-phase 240 VAC supply, the continuous mechanical power available at the motor shaft reaches 1.1 kW. For short accelerations or shock loads, the current can rise to a peak of 7.5 A, which doubles the thermal loading for only a few seconds and helps prevent stall during rapid indexing. Under those same supply conditions, the electrical section can support a momentary mechanical output of 2.2 kW. Overall conversion losses are minimized by a power stage efficiency of 95%, so most of the DC bus energy is transferred to the motor instead of becoming heat inside the cabinet.
The motor connected to this drive must present a line-to-line inductance between 4 mH and 4 H, because values outside this range can upset current-loop bandwidth and trigger overcurrent faults. Command signals are accepted through a configurable interface that recognizes analog or incremental digital inputs, allowing operation from either a ±10 V velocity loop or a step-and-direction position source. The drive has no fieldbus interface, so parameter adjustment and tuning are completed locally through the command interface.
