Product Description:
The SC453-043-04 is a brushless servo controller produced by Pacific Scientific within the SC450 Brushless Servo Controllers series. It functions as a programmable digital position controller that interfaces between a motion-control drive and a resolver-equipped motor to execute closed-loop positioning tasks in pick-and-place units, indexing tables, and similar industrial automation assemblies. By managing both current and position loops internally, the device offloads high-speed regulation from a host PLC while still accepting high-level motion commands through its fieldbus or discrete I/O.
Electrically, the controller delivers up to 4500 W of peak output power when supplied from a 230 VAC line, allowing short bursts of acceleration for high-inertia axes. During those transients, the power stage can supply a maximum phase current of 15.0 A, yet it sustains continuous operation at 7.5 A on either 115 VAC or 230 VAC sources without thermal derating. The pulse-width-modulated bridge operates at an output ripple frequency of 15 kHz, a switching rate high enough to minimize torque ripple in low-inductance brushless servomotors. All control, power, and feedback circuits remain functional across an ambient range of 0 to 50 °C, so the unit can be mounted inside a standard equipment cabinet without auxiliary cooling.
For precision work, the internal resolver-to-digital converter yields a position resolution of 4096 steps per rev, which combines with algorithmic interpolation to achieve a control accuracy of 15 arcmin. Application programs may command absolute targets anywhere from 0 to 100,000,000 steps, providing ample range for multi-turn rotary stages or long linear actuators. An approximate mass of 5.0 kg permits straightforward panel mounting while still supplying enough thermal mass to absorb short duty-cycle overloads. The specified storage range of -55 to 70 °C preserves component integrity during transport or extended downtime.
