The SC453-016-15 is a brushless servo controller produced by Pacific Scientific for the SC450 Brushless Servo Controllers series. As a programmable digital position controller, it issues drive signals and trajectory commands to matched servomotors used in automated pick-and-place machines, indexing tables, and packaging axes. The controller relies on resolver feedback to close the position loop, translating rotor angle data into precise motion profiles for industrial automation tasks.
During continuous operation, the controller can supply 7.5 A of phase current while operating from either a 230 VAC or 115 VAC power source, supporting medium-frame motors without overheating the output stage. Transient moves are accommodated by a 15.0 A peak current capability that provides additional capacity for acceleration or shock loads. With a maximum output power of 4500 W at 230 VAC, the drive section converts line power into three-phase voltage while keeping losses low. Its 15 kHz output ripple frequency places switching noise above most mechanical resonance bands. Positional commands are interpreted at a resolution of 4096 steps per revolution, allowing the connected motor to settle at intermediate angles rather than only at whole-degree increments. A sealed digital memory stores motion programs, allowing indexed moves or electronic gearing to operate without an external PLC.
The internal position register has a range of 0 to 100,000,000 steps, so large-travel gantries can be homed once and then run uninterrupted cycles. Closed-loop accuracy reaches 15 arcmin, making the unit suitable for applications where slight oscillations could degrade product quality. Reliable operation is supported within an ambient temperature range of 0 to 50 °C, while storage is permitted from -55 to 70 °C without damage to calibrated components. The controller weighs 5.0 kg, which reduces the mounting load when several axes share a single cabinet. Resolver feedback is accepted through a shielded connector. Command limits, alarms, and data logging are user-programmable to accommodate different motion profiles.
