The SC453-010-AL servo controller is built by Pacific Scientific within the SC450 Brushless Servo Controllers series. This programmable digital position controller governs brushless servomotors by regulating current, velocity, and position loops from a single unit. In factory automation cells, it uses resolver feedback, interprets position data, and delivers precise power to the motor phases so tables, gantries, or indexers reach commanded positions.

With an input of 115 VAC or 230 VAC, the controller supplies a continuous output of 7.5 A, while transient moves can draw up to 15.0 A for acceleration or impact recovery. When operated on 230 VAC lines, that current corresponds to a peak mechanical power of 4500 W, which is suitable for medium-frame rotary axes and small linear stages. The power transistors are pulse-width modulated at 15 kHz, and this switching frequency helps minimize torque ripple while keeping acoustic noise outside most machine vibration bands. Proper function is maintained across an ambient range of 0 to 50 °C, permitting installation in standard control cabinets without additional climate equipment. As a programmable digital position controller, its tuning and limit values can be edited without external hardware.

Position tasks are handled with a closed-loop resolver, and the controller resolves motion down to 15 arcmin. The internal counter accommodates 0 to +100,000,000 steps, so repetitive indexing or long-travel axes remain within numeric limits. Each motor revolution is subdivided into 4096 steps per rev, enabling smooth interpolation during contouring moves. Despite these numeric capacities, the device weighs only 5.0 kg, which simplifies panel mounting and general handling. Storage temperature capability of -55 to 70 °C helps protect the electronics during shipment and facility downtime.
