Product Description:
The SC453-001-03 servo controller is produced by Pacific Scientific as part of the SC450 Brushless Servo Controllers series. As a programmable digital position controller, it drives and regulates brushless servomotors in automated machinery, allowing precise position, speed, and torque control through closed-loop operation. Deployed on assembly lines, packaging equipment, and material-handling axes, the unit translates motion commands into regulated phase currents while monitoring rotor position through a resolver to keep the motor synchronized with the commanded trajectory.
With either a 115 VAC or 230 VAC mains supply, the controller delivers a continuous phase current of 7.5 A, which is sufficient to maintain rated torque on medium-frame brushless motors without thermal derating. When rapid acceleration is required, the current stage can surge to 15.0 A for short intervals, and operation at 230 VAC provides a peak output of 4500 W at the motor terminals. Pulse-width modulation is executed at an output ripple frequency of 15 kHz, helping reduce mechanical chatter during motor operation. Closed-loop interpolation provides a position control accuracy of 15 arcmin, supporting precise pick-and-place movements and indexing tasks on multi-station machinery.
The internal motion-control system tracks movement over a range of 0 to +100,000,000 steps, with each motor revolution subdivided into 4096 steps per rev. This fine granularity complements the resolver’s analog feedback and avoids cumulative rounding errors during multi-turn motion sequences. All control electronics are rated for operation at ambient temperatures from 0 to 50 °C, and the assembly can be stored at temperatures from −55 °C to 70 °C without damage. The controller measures approximately half a rack width and weighs 5.0 kg, simplifying panel mounting in high-density automation cells.
