Product Description:
The SC452-002-03 is a brushless servo controller produced by Pacific Scientific for the SC450 Brushless Servo Controllers series. It functions as a programmable digital position controller that regulates torque and velocity loops inside automated machinery, coordinating resolver-equipped servomotors with motion commands issued by higher-level PLCs. By integrating motor power electronics and embedded trajectory generation in a 2.7 kg enclosure, the unit reduces panel space while delivering closed-loop accuracy in pick-and-place stations, packaging axes, and similar positioning tasks.
For thermal and electrical loading, the controller supplies a continuous motor phase current of 4.2 A at 115 VAC or 3.5 A at 230 VAC; short bursts up to 7.0 A peak accommodate acceleration or sudden load changes. When powered from a 230 VAC line, the drive can deliver 2000 W peak output power, letting mid-frame servomotors reach rated torque without external boosters. Its output transistors are pulse-width-modulated at 20 kHz, a switching frequency that minimizes audible noise and reduces current ripple seen by the motor windings. Resolver feedback is decoded internally, so absolute rotor angle is available at power-up without homing routines, and the drive maintains position using a 32-bit counter that the host can read or reset under program control.
The motion loop achieves 15 arcmin positioning accuracy and offers a selectable resolution of 4096 steps per rev, while commanded travel can extend through a range of 0 to 100,000,000 steps for long linear axes. Rated ambient operation spans 0 to 50 °C, and components survive storage temperatures from –55 °C to 70 °C without recalibration. The cast housing, mounting flanges, and filtered connectors keep EMI within industrial limits, and the 2.7 kg mass aids heat conduction to the panel.
