Product Description:
The SC451-010-05 servo controller is manufactured by Pacific Scientific and belongs to the SC450 Brushless Servo Controllers series. As a programmable digital position controller, it issues closed-loop commands to a brushless motor and interprets resolver feedback to maintain commanded positions on assembly lines, pick-and-place axes, and packaging equipment. The embedded DSP samples resolver signals, while motion parameters are programmed through the PacSci ServoBASIC environment to provide deterministic positioning.
When powered from a 230 VAC supply, the unit delivers up to 1000 W of output, and its bus can supply a peak phase current of 3.5 A for short-term acceleration demands. Under continuous duty, the output stages provide 1.75 A with a 230 VAC input or 2.1 A when supplied from a 115 VAC line. These continuous-current limits support motor sizing and heat dissipation planning. A carrier frequency of 20 kHz keeps switching ripple outside the audible range and reduces torque pulsations during low-speed motion. The controller uses a convection-cooled housing to remove heat without an external fan. Its electrical output supports mid-frame brushless servomotors used in moderate-power positioning applications.
The internal interpolator supports a position control range from zero to 100,000,000 steps, with a native granularity of 4096 steps per revolution, so multi-turn applications can operate without additional counters. Closed-loop accuracy reaches 15 arcmin, which is suitable for medium-precision indexing tables. Rated operation is supported from 0 to 50 °C, while storage is permitted from -55 °C to 70 °C. The aluminum chassis weighs 2.7 kg, allowing panel mounting without heavy reinforcement. During operation, the controller monitors ambient temperature and current draw to help keep the system within its protective limits. The wide position range allows long commanded moves, while the native step granularity supports smooth incremental motion without requiring a separate position counter.
