The SC403-030-T4 is a servo drive manufactured by Pacific Scientific as part of the SC400 Servo Drives series. It conditions single- or three-phase 115/230 VAC mains into a controlled DC bus and a pulse-width-modulated output that regulates torque and velocity on brushless motors used in pick-and-place units, packaging actuators, and other motion axes. By integrating amplification, feedback processing, and protective logic in one 4.5-inch-wide housing, the drive simplifies cabinet layouts and supports installation in industrial automation cells.
When the input is 115 VAC, the internal rectifier establishes a bus of 160 VDC. With 230 VAC service, the bus rises to 320 VDC, providing headroom for higher speed commands. The power section can deliver a continuous output current of 7.5 A, enough for medium-frame motors under sustained load, and it tolerates up to 15 A for acceleration or shock events without loss of control. A switching ripple of 15 kHz minimizes audible noise and smooths motor torque. Diagnostic circuitry presents a transistorized fault output that sinks 25 mA at up to 30 VDC, enabling the host controller to react to overcurrent, bus overvoltage, or feedback loss without additional relays.
Thermal performance includes a continuous power rating of 2250 W when the unit operates from a three-phase 230 VAC source. Peak power can reach 2250 W on 115 VAC or 4500 W on 230 VAC for short intervals. Excess regenerative energy is routed to an internal shunt resistor that dissipates 40 W continuously and up to 6000 W momentarily, preventing bus overvoltage during rapid deceleration. Velocity commands are accepted as a differential ±10 V signal, and speed feedback from a tachsyn transducer is processed at 4.0 V/Krpm to close the loop with minimal lag. The compact frame occupies only 4.5 inches of panel width, leaving space for adjacent control gear.
