Product Description:

The SC403-017-T4 servo amplifier is produced by Pacific Scientific within the SC400 Servo Drives series. Designed for velocity and torque regulation of brushless and tachsyn-equipped motors, the unit interfaces with motion controllers to drive manufacturing axes, conveyors, and packaging stages. By converting single- or three-phase line power into a regulated DC bus and high-frequency output, it delivers the fast current response required for industrial automation tasks.

When supplied from a 115 Vac line, the internal bus rises to 160 VDC; on a 230 Vac source the bus reaches 320 VDC, establishing the operating voltage rails for the inverter stage. Under continuous duty, the drive supplies 7.5 A of output current, corresponding to 800 W on 115 Vac single-phase feeds and to 2250 W on 230 Vac three-phase feeds. The current loop is closed at up to 3 kHz, allowing tight torque control and minimizing phase lag in high-bandwidth positioning systems. A switching pattern at 15 kHz limits output ripple, and the peak output channel can momentarily double the continuous current to meet acceleration demands without saturating the bus capacitors.

For short bursts, the amplifier delivers a peak output of 15 A, enabling mechanical loads to be started with up to 4500 W of electrical power on a 230 Vac supply. Excess regenerated energy is absorbed by an internal shunt that dissipates 40 W continuously and withstands 6000 W in transient events to protect the DC link. The velocity loop accepts a differential command of ±10 V and references a tachsyn feedback channel calibrated at 4.0 V per krpm; drift of that reference is held to 50 µV per °C to maintain speed accuracy over temperature. A transistorized fault output sinks 25 mA at 30 VDC for controller diagnostics, and the 4.5-inch-wide chassis fits densely in multi-axis cabinets without blocking airflow.
