In automated machinery, the drive sits between the motion controller and the motor, executing current loops fast enough to keep axes synchronized while also reporting faults back to higher-level control.
The internal DC link is maintained at 320 VDC; this voltage provides the energy reservoir from which the inverter section draws during acceleration or load changes.
