Product Description:

The SC402-C17-T4 servo drive is produced by Pacific Scientific within the SC400 Servo Drives series. It functions as a current-mode amplifier that interfaces between a motion controller and a brushless motor, converting line power into regulated motor current so closed-loop speed and torque can be maintained in automated machinery. Its compact width allows direct installation in multi-axis cabinets used for packaging, indexing, and robotics. Integrated signal conditioning supports both tachsyn feedback and analog velocity commands from standard motion controllers.

The drive can deliver a continuous output of 3.50 A, which is the RMS phase current available for steady-state operation without exceeding thermal limits. During rapid acceleration or sudden load changes, it supplies up to 7.0 A for several seconds, providing additional torque. Line power is accepted at 115/230 VAC through single- or three-phase mains, allowing the drive to accommodate multiple power configurations. Internally, the rectifier and filter accommodate utility frequencies from 47 to 63 Hz. A current-monitor test point provides +4.4 V at full scale with a gain of 0.63 V/A, allowing motor loading to be checked with a voltmeter. The fault-output transistor sinks 25 mA at 30 VDC, allowing direct wiring to PLC alarm inputs.

The unit operates at ambient temperatures from 0 °C to 50 °C, so it can be mounted in most control rooms without additional cooling. During unpowered storage, it tolerates temperatures from -35 °C to 70 °C. Reliable performance is maintained at altitudes up to 1500 m, covering most industrial installations. The chassis is only 2.8 inches wide, permitting high-density installation in multi-axis control cabinets. A tachsyn gradient of 4.0 V per krpm accommodates compatible feedback interfaces. The ±10 V velocity command input allows direct connection to standard analog motion cards without additional signal scaling.
