In a closed-loop motion system, the unit bridges a PLC or analog velocity reference and a brushless servomotor, translating line power into regulated armature current so that speed and torque follow commanded values. By integrating current regulation, velocity feedback, and protective diagnostics into a 2.8-inch-wide chassis, the drive suits compact machine tools, material-handling axes, and other automation tasks that demand precise current control.
The drive accepts a switch-selectable 115 or 230 VAC mains input and rectifies it to 160 VDC or 320 VDC on the internal bus. Within that range, it can deliver a continuous output of 3.50 A, and it supports transient demands up to 7.0 A for rapid acceleration. A current loop bandwidth of 3 kHz limits phase delay between the reference and measured motor current, maintaining stiffness when load inertia varies. The auxiliary ±12 VDC supply can source 10 mA for external electronics, while a current monitor terminal provides 0.63 V per ampere so that real-time load can be observed. A fault transistor rated at 30 VDC and 25 mA sinks to ground whenever an over-temperature, over-current, or loss of feedback event occurs.
Velocity control is referenced through a ±10 V analog command, and the input presents a minimum impedance of 50 kΩ, reducing the burden on upstream motion controllers. Internally generated PWM switching operates at 20 kHz, pushing the electrical ripple frequency above the audible range and minimizing motor noise. When powered from 230 VAC, the drive can transfer up to 2000 W of peak mechanical power to the connected servomotor.
