The SC402-023-TC servo drive is produced by Pacific Scientific as part of the SC400 Servo Drives series. Designed for brushless motor control in industrial automation, the unit converts fixed-frequency mains into a regulated DC bus and pulse-width-modulated output, allowing precise velocity and torque loops in assembly machines, packaging lines, and material handling cells. It interfaces with standard motion controllers through an analog velocity command and relays operational status through isolated fault contacts.
When the drive is connected to a 115 Vac supply, the internal bus is stabilized at 160 VDC. Under this input, the power stage can deliver a continuous phase current of 4.2 A, and the motor current can be checked at the test point that scales feedback at 0.63 V/A. For acceleration or transient loads, output capability rises to 7.0 A peak, while thermal limits allow continuous mechanical power up to 1000 W on a 230 Vac three-phase source, a figure that also represents the peak rating when the drive is supplied from 115 Vac. The auxiliary logic supply draws no more than 10 mA, and an analog ±10 V velocity command sets the speed reference. Fault signaling is provided by an open-collector line rated at 25 mA and 30 VDC, enabling direct PLC monitoring. A shunt regulator dissipates 20 W continuously to hold the bus at safe levels during regenerative braking.
Operating from 230 Vac, the DC link is elevated to 320 VDC, doubling energy storage for higher power cycles. In this mode the drive can supply up to 2000 W of peak mechanical output and maintains switching at a carrier of 20 kHz to reduce audible noise. Regenerative surges are clipped by a shunt path that accepts 1500 W momentarily, preventing over-voltage trips during rapid deceleration. Continuous current at this input is 3.5 A, and the unchanged auxiliary and fault circuitry simplify platform wiring across installations.
