The SC402-012-T3 is a current-loop servo drive manufactured by Pacific Scientific for the SC400 Servo Drives series. It converts single- or three-phase mains power into a controlled PWM output that forces motor current to follow an analog reference, supplying precise torque for positioning, tensioning, and general motion axes in automated machinery. A compact chassis and cabinet-mount design allow the drive to sit adjacent to matched permanent-magnet motors without requiring external interface modules. This arrangement also reduces the wiring distance between the drive and motor in space-constrained control cabinets.

When the input is 115 VAC, the rectifier produces a bus voltage of 160 VDC; with a 230 VAC input, the bus voltage rises to 320 VDC. Under steady-state loading, the bridge delivers 3.50 A of current and up to 1000 W of continuous mechanical power from the higher-voltage three-phase supply, while 700 W is available from a single-phase line. A differential command range of 0 to 4.2 V feeds the current loop, and its response is smoothed by a 144 Hz active filter that limits torque ripple. The control electronics are protected by a 0.5 A fuse, while the mains conductors pass through a separate 20 A fuse. These independently protected circuits help prevent line faults from reaching the drive’s low-level control components.

During acceleration, the power stage can source a peak current of 7.0 A, delivering 2000 W of short-term power from the higher-voltage supply; the lower-voltage peak power is 1000 W. Switching occurs at a carrier frequency of 20 kHz, keeping audible noise low and reducing iron losses in the connected motor. Fault status is provided through a 30 VDC open-collector signal that can sink 25 mA to external control logic. Velocity feedback uses a tachometer gradient of 2.0 V/krpm, giving the analog controller direct speed scaling without software calibration. The fault output allows connected controls to respond when the drive detects an operating condition that requires shutdown or interruption of the motion command.
