The SC402-010 is a brushless servo drive produced by Pacific Scientific within the SC400 Servo Drives series. It converts fixed-frequency AC mains into regulated DC and three-phase PWM outputs, providing closed-loop current and velocity control for permanent-magnet servomotors used in positioning, tensioning, and coordinated motion axes on automated machinery. This arrangement supports responsive motor control in systems that require stable speed regulation and repeatable movement.
For power conversion, the drive rectifies 115 VAC input into a DC bus of 160 VDC, while 230 VAC mains raise the bus to 320 VDC. Under a 230 VAC single-phase supply, it can deliver 700 W of continuous mechanical power, and that rating increases to 1000 W when the same voltage is supplied in three phases. At 115 VAC, the continuous armature current reaches 4.2 A, while with 230 VAC, the steady value falls to 3.5 A because the higher voltage reduces current demand. A current-loop bandwidth of 3 kHz allows the controller to track rapid torque transients, supporting precise positioning of light-inertia axes. The front end accepts a ±10 V velocity command, and the internal PWM stage maintains a form factor below 1.01 to help minimize bus ripple and motor heating.
Peak delivery margins accommodate acceleration events. The inverter can source a momentary 7 A output current, yielding up to 1000 W of burst power on a 115 VAC line and as much as 2000 W when operated from 230 VAC. Input fundamentals range from 47–63 Hz, and the front end draws 6 A at maximum load. Single-phase or three-phase wiring flexibility supports use in mixed-supply panels. Thermal dissipation is aided by the low form factor, so rated operation can be sustained without external filtering. The drive is suitable for indexing tables, packaging actuators, and electronic gearing applications that require quick speed recovery after load changes.
