The SC402-001-T2 is a servo drive built by Pacific Scientific for the SC400 Servo Drives series. It operates as the power and control interface between a motion controller and a brushless servomotor, converting line-level AC into a regulated DC bus and high-frequency PWM output. In automated machinery, the unit modulates motor torque and speed so axes follow commanded velocity profiles with minimal tracking error. That arrangement makes it suitable for positioning axes and other motion tasks that require repeatable speed control.
For supply flexibility, the drive accepts 115/230 VAC input, delivering a continuous phase current of 4.2 A on 115 VAC systems and 3.5 A on 230 VAC feeds. Those current limits translate to sustained power ratings of 350 W on a single-phase 115 VAC line and 1000 W when three-phase 230 VAC is provided. Internally, the rectifier and filter build DC bus levels of 160 VDC for 115 VAC operation or 320 VDC for 230 VAC, providing the voltage headroom used by the IGBT bridge. A fault relay can sink 25 mA and switch external logic up to 30 VDC so a host controller can log over-current, over-temperature, or loss-of-feedback events. The velocity loop accepts a ±10 V command, while the tachsyn feedback produces 1.0 V per krpm for speed closure.
During rapid indexing, the inverter supplies a peak output of 7.0 A, allowing short-term torque bursts beyond continuous limits. On 230 VAC, peak mechanical power reaches 2000 W, which helps the drive accelerate high-inertia loads during short motion segments. Output ripple is minimized by a carrier frequency of 20 kHz, which shifts switching noise above most audible ranges and smooths motor current waveforms. The resulting current delivery supports more stable speed control when the commanded load changes quickly.
