The SC155-046-05 is a brushless servo controller produced by Pacific Scientific for the SC100 Brushless Servo Controllers series. As a closed-loop power stage, it regulates current and velocity in permanent-magnet servomotors, allowing precise positioning in automated packaging lines, pick-and-place robots, and similar machinery. The unit belongs to the Brushless Servo Controller product group and integrates current loops, velocity loops, and fault monitoring into one module without requiring external amplifiers. This integrated architecture allows the controller to respond to changing motion commands while monitoring operating conditions that could affect the connected motor or power stage.
The controller draws single-phase mains power through an input rated at 230 VAC (+10%, -15%) and supports line frequencies from 47 to 63 Hz. Internally, the rectifier and filter network establish a DC bus at 320 VDC, providing an energy reserve for rapid torque commands. Power conversion is carried out by IGBT switches operated by high-efficiency gate drivers. The overall energy transfer efficiency is more than 95%, reducing cabinet heat dissipation and transformer loading during operation. These electrical characteristics support responsive current regulation when the motor accelerates, decelerates, or encounters a changing mechanical load.
A carrier rate of 5 kHz sets the switching period, balancing acoustic noise with motor current ripple. Full output ratings are maintained from 0 °C to 50 °C; operation outside this range requires derating to protect the semiconductors and bus capacitors. During storage, the electronics can withstand ambient temperatures from -55 °C to 70 °C without performance loss, permitting storage in unconditioned facilities. The thermal design relies on convection cooling across the heat sink fins, while low switching losses help keep case temperatures moderate. Acceleration limits and gain settings can be adjusted through serial tools, allowing the drive response to be matched to the connected motor and mechanical load. Proper parameter selection helps maintain stable velocity regulation and controlled acceleration without exceeding the controller’s electrical limits.
