It sits between the plant’s AC mains and the motor, shaping current in real time so motion axes can track position and velocity commands issued by a PLC or motion card.
The controller accepts an input of 230 VAC (+10%, -15%) at line frequencies from 47–63 Hz. Internally, a rectifier and filter create a DC bus nominally rated at 320 VDC; this higher intermediate voltage improves torque response at peak demand. Power devices switch at 5 kHz, a compromise that limits motor acoustic noise while keeping transistor losses low. Overall conversion efficiency is greater than 95%, so only a small fraction of the incoming power is dissipated as heat. This efficiency eases enclosure cooling requirements and permits full-rated operation without derating under nominal conditions.
The operating temperature and feedback capabilities complement the controller’s electrical performance.
