The SC103-001-T1 brushless servo controller is manufactured by Pacific Scientific and belongs to the SC100 Brushless Servo Controllers series. It is intended to drive permanent-magnet servomotors in industrial automation, converting incoming three-phase power into regulated, pulse-width-modulated output that governs torque and velocity along a commanded trajectory. By closing the current and velocity loops internally, the unit provides the fast dynamic response required for coordinated robot axes, packaging stations, and material-handling systems. This control structure helps maintain stable motion when load conditions change during operation.
A regulated DC bus of 320 VDC is produced from the three-phase 230 VAC (+10%, -15%) mains that the controller accepts across the 47-63 Hz supply band. Under continuous stall conditions, the power stage can deliver 15 A of current, translating to 4.5 kW of mechanical output while sustaining efficiency greater than 95%. Thermal losses under full load amount to 105 W, and 30 W can be bled continuously through the shunt regulator to protect the bus from regenerated energy. A Tachsyn Processor interface reads a 0.5 V/Krpm tachometer gradient for speed feedback, while the logic and power sections remain fully rated between 0 °C and 50 °C. The controller uses three input phases and a 5 kHz carrier frequency to keep motor ripple low, and it is supplied as a standard controller without special customization.
During acceleration bursts, the drive supports 30 A of output for five seconds, yielding 9 kW of peak mechanical power, and the associated shunt path tolerates 8 kW for 300 ms to clamp excess bus energy. A switching rate of 5 kHz balances acoustic noise with current fidelity. The short-term overload capability supports brief acceleration demands without shifting the controller into continuous-duty operation. All components survive non-operating temperatures from -55 °C to 70 °C, supporting damage-free transit and storage.
