The SC101-006 brushless servo controller is manufactured by Pacific Scientific for the SC100 Brushless Servo Controllers series. It accepts single-phase utility power and produces a regulated three-phase output that drives brushless servomotors used in positioning tables, feeders, and light conveyor axes. By integrating power conversion, current regulation, and shunt handling in one enclosure, the unit supplies closed-loop torque and speed control without requiring separate braking hardware. This integrated arrangement also reduces the number of external power components needed within the control system.
During continuous operation, the controller accepts a single-phase input of 230 VAC (+10%, -15%) and rectifies it to a nominal DC bus voltage of 320 VDC. From this DC link, it supplies a continuous armature current of 7.5 A and delivers 1.5 kW of continuous mechanical power. Its operating efficiency is greater than 95%, helping limit internal power loss during sustained use. Line compatibility spans 47–63 Hz, allowing operation with either 50 Hz or 60 Hz utility power. The internal shunt transistor dissipates 30 W continuously to control regenerated energy from decelerating loads. Full output remains available at ambient temperatures from 0 °C to 50 °C.
For short transients, the drive can double its phase current to 15 A and increase shaft power to 4 kW for five seconds, providing additional torque during acceleration or brief overloads. During regeneration events lasting 300 ms, the shunt path can absorb 8 kW. Heat production settles at 60 W when the controller operates at full load. The pulse-width modulator runs at 5 kHz, balancing ripple suppression with manageable switching loss and low acoustic noise. The controller can be stored at temperatures ranging from -55 °C to 70 °C. These operating and storage limits allow the controller to withstand substantial temperature changes while it is powered down or placed back into service.
