Product Description:
The DA12L-1600A-GFI is a rotary DC-to-AC generator manufactured by Pacific Scientific as part of the Redi-Line Electric Generators series. The unit couples a permanent-magnet motor to an alternator so that 12-volt storage batteries can supply stable utility-grade power to instrumentation, sensors, and pilot motors in remote or vehicle-mounted automation packages. By providing an isolated alternating-current supply, it allows control cabinets to retain full functionality during engine idling, mobile operation, or temporary blackout events on the plant floor.
The alternator delivers a nominal output of 120 VAC and maintains a pure sine wave to protect sensitive electronic loads. Under continuous duty, the generator can supply 1600 W with a rated output current of 14.5 A. On the input side, the drive motor draws energy from batteries regulated around 12.6 VDC; operation continues down to the 12 VDC minimum as long as battery voltage remains above the dropout threshold. Output frequency is controlled at 65 Hz, while regulation keeps frequency deviation within ±5%. Line regulation keeps the RMS voltage within a ±15% range as the load changes, preventing overvoltage under light loads and brownouts when powering devices with high inrush current.
Short-term overload capacity supports motor starts. Surge output climbs to 22 A and reaches 2400 W for several seconds without stalling, giving downstream drives time to accelerate. The cylindrical housing measures 7.38 in in diameter, 9.13 in in height, and 16.75 in in length, so it fits beneath truck seats or inside compact generator bays. Cast end bells carry sealed ball bearings that maintain the shaft centerline and preserve alignment during vibration. The total mass is 53 lb, allowing manual installation while providing enough inertia for smooth voltage production under varying DC supply conditions.
