The R63GMNA-R2-NS-NV-00 is a Pacific Scientific servo unit within the R Servomotors series. Designed as a compact rotary actuator for industrial automation, it converts drive-controller current into mechanical motion for indexing tables, packaging axes, and material-handling equipment. The motor’s square frame and resolver feedback support tight velocity and position loops, while its rare-earth magnet technology provides substantial torque within a compact housing. This arrangement makes the motor suitable for controlled rotary motion in machinery that requires accurate speed regulation and repeatable positioning.
Under continuous load, the motor can deliver 8.3 Nm of stall torque, and it withstands transient demands up to 20.5 Nm without demagnetization. Its rated speed is 3400 rpm, providing moderate base speed and high torque for direct-drive wheels or belt pulleys. Dynamic response is supported by a rotor inertia of 0.81 × 10⁻³ kg·m², which balances acceleration capability with stability during closed-loop movement. The 5.75-inch square flange fits many compatible gearboxes and reduces the need for custom mounting plates. Standard three-phase windings support operation with a compatible servo drive. The standard finned aluminum housing dissipates heat through natural convection without requiring a separate cooling fan.
The rare-earth magnetic circuit uses samarium cobalt magnets that resist thermal drift, allowing the motor to maintain torque at elevated temperatures. The flange has a metric bolt pattern for direct coupling to compatible IEC equipment. Its magnetic stack has a length of 3 inches, providing greater torque capacity than shorter motors in the same series. The motor has no brake, so an external holding device or drive-applied torque is required when a stationary load must remain secured after power is removed. It also has no shaft seal for pressurized washdown areas and no secondary feedback device. Primary position sensing is provided by a frameless size-21 resolver, which supplies rotor position information to the connected drive for closed-loop control.
