Product Description:
The N42HLHK-LNK-NS-00 is a stepper motor produced by Pacific Scientific for the POWERPAC N Stepper Motors series. Designed to translate pulse commands from a microstep or full-step drive into precise incremental motion, the unit serves indexing tables, feeders, and other open-loop automation axes where a simple torque-to-inertia ratio is critical. The motor is supplied without a feedback device, so position is based on commanded step count rather than encoder data. Because it operates as an open-loop motor, it is well suited to applications that need repeatable step positioning with straightforward drive control.
The NEMA 42 frame size and two-stack laminated rotor provide the magnetic volume required to generate a static holding torque of 22.2 Nm, helping the motor hold a load when current is applied. Each revolution is divided into 200 full steps, so the basic step angle is 1.8°. Cumulative position error is limited to ± 3%, which supports repeatable indexing in open-loop motion systems. Phase insulation is rated for 340 Vdc, allowing connection to high-bus-voltage bipolar drives through the four-lead parallel wiring scheme. Standard windings keep inductance low for fast current rise, and the heavy-duty NEMA face mates directly to gearboxes or bearing blocks. Torque is transmitted through a single straight-key shaft, and the lack of a shaft seal helps reduce friction in clean, dry environments.
The motor uses a 4.325 in. square frame and has an overall body length of 150 mm, which helps it fit in compact machine bays. Power and phase leads pass through a 1/2 in. NPSC pipe thread conduit entry, and this splash-proof route terminates on an internal board so moisture cannot reach the windings. Insulation resistance is 100 Megohms, matching the standard construction rating for dry industrial cabinets. This lead arrangement keeps the electrical connection enclosed and supports installation where cable protection is needed.
