The P21NSXA-LDN-NS-02 is a hybrid stepper motor manufactured by Pacific Scientific for the POWERMAX II P Motors series. In machine tools, pick-and-place modules, and indexing tables, the unit translates pulse commands from a drive into discrete shaft positions, enabling open-loop motion control without servo feedback. It follows standard mounting dimensions for integration into existing automation frames, while the double-ended smooth shaft accommodates couplings on either side of the housing.
Mechanical output is supported by its NEMA 23 frame, which combines a single magnetic stack with a standard rotor to keep inertia moderate. The motor develops 0.81 Nm of holding torque, while detent torque is 0.03 Nm, so its static load capacity is substantially greater than its cogging force. Each of the two phases draws 5.6 A through a receptacle connector. A winding resistance of 0.46 Ω contributes to the motor’s copper losses during operation. The low inductance of 0.8 mH enables faster current changes before back electromotive force limits current flow. Motion resolution comes from a 1.8-degree step angle, which provides 200 full steps per revolution. Step accuracy remains within ±1.5% for precise incremental movement. The motor has no feedback device, so position tracking depends on the commanded steps and the motor’s ability to move without stalling.
Electrical insulation uses Class B materials rated for 130 °C. The windings tolerate up to 340 VDC and maintain an insulation resistance of at least 100 megohms. An A-type coil pattern and two-phase excitation allow direct operation with compatible Pacific Scientific drives. Continuous service is permitted from -20 °C to +40 °C, allowing operation in factory spaces without climate control. The standard housing limits unnecessary mass while protecting the internal laminations, and the receptacle termination simplifies cable connection. Proper drive-current settings and adequate ventilation help keep the windings within their permitted thermal range during repeated indexing or feed-axis operation.
