Product Description:
The P21NRSXS-LNS-NS-03 is a hybrid stepping motor built by Pacific Scientific for the POWERMAX II P Motors series. Designed for positioning tasks that do not require integrated feedback, this unit converts digital pulse trains into incremental rotary motion without external sensors because it is supplied with no feedback device. The motor uses standard construction and one magnetic stack to keep rotor inertia low. Each revolution is divided into 200 full steps, allowing precise indexing in compact pick-and-place heads, small conveyor diverters, and other automated assemblies that require repeatable motion.
Compliance with the NEMA 23 frame dimensions makes the motor compatible with many common mounts, and the leads exit the housing through a standard lead-wire connection for straightforward wiring. Motion is generated with a 1.8° step angle, and the electromagnetic circuit uses a 2-phase arrangement that keeps torque ripple predictable. Step-positioning error is limited to ±1.5%, while the laminated rotor minimizes detent oscillations during incremental movement. Electrical insulation meets Class B limits at 130 °C and provides 100 megohms of resistance at room temperature. An enclosure rating of IP23 provides protection against finger contact and light water spray. NEMA face mounting allows the motor to be installed directly on compatible machine surfaces without a separate mounting adapter.
The POWERMAX II housing is 52.4 mm long and ends in a smooth shaft that transmits torque through a clamping coupling rather than a key. The shaft can tolerate an axial load of 60 N and a radial load of 90 N, allowing couplings and belt-driven components to operate within the permitted loading range. The motor surface can reach 95 °C during operation, and the normal ambient temperature range is -20 °C to +40 °C. Adequate clearance around the housing supports heat dissipation and helps prevent nearby components from being exposed to excessive surface temperatures. For insulation integrity, the windings can withstand up to 340 VDC without electrical breakdown. The smooth shaft is suitable for compact couplings used in light-duty positioning axes, conveyor mechanisms, and automated handling equipment.
