Product Description:
The PMA42N-10100-00 brushless servo motor is produced by Pacific Scientific within the PMA Brushless Motors series. It converts commanded current into controlled rotary motion for positioning tables, conveyors, and similar axes in industrial automation environments where precise speed and torque regulation are required. Its brushless design supports repeatable motion in systems that rely on closed-loop servo control. This makes it suitable for automated equipment that needs accurate starts, stops, and speed changes over repeated cycles.
At stall the motor supplies a continuous torque of 4.1 Nm, allowing it to support static loads under rated cooling conditions. To maintain that torque, the stator draws a winding current of 3.8 ARMS, a value used to set current limits on the drive amplifier. The rotor inertia is only 0.36 kg·m² × 10⁻³, so the axis can accelerate quickly while maintaining speed stability when the load changes. Windings built for the 240–480 V AC class let the motor operate from common three-phase supply inverters without a step-down transformer. A frame side of 115 mm gives the motor a square body that matches standard mounting faces. The motor uses resolver feedback, a closed-keyway shaft supplied with its key, and a stack length code of 2.
During rapid indexing the motor withstands a peak load of 14.6 Nm, giving production equipment extra thrust for short motion bursts. Even with this overhead, the unit weighs only 6.2 kg, helping reduce moving mass on gantry or robot joints. Cable management is simplified by connectors mounted at a right angle to the stator. The power lines terminate on a 6PP 6-pin plug that mates directly with the manufacturer's drive harnesses. The model is supplied without a brake, so mechanical holding must be provided externally.
