Internal Product Review
The SR3640-8063-7-56HC is a Pacific Scientific permanent magnet DC motor designed for continuous-duty service. The SCR-rated configuration and 90 VDC input support clean integration with conventional DC drive packages. A 1/2 HP rating at 1800 RPM gives the motor a very practical performance range for steady industrial loads.

Product Description:
The SR3640-8063-7-56HC is a fractional-horsepower direct-current motor assembled by Pacific Scientific as a member of its Permanent Magnet DC Motors series. Designed for integration with SCR drives in light to medium industrial automation, the unit converts electrical energy into rotational motion for tasks such as belt feeds, positioning tables, and metering pumps. Its magnetized stator removes the need for a separate field winding, which helps keep the frame compact and simplifies wiring in variable-speed DC systems. This layout is well suited to equipment that needs steady speed control without the added complexity of shunt-field connections.
Because the armature supply is SCR-rated, commutation is matched to the ripple associated with phase-controlled rectifiers, which helps prevent excessive brush arcing. The motor is built for continuous duty, so its thermal design supports an unlimited operating cycle at rated load without additional cooling. A TENV enclosure protects the windings from airborne contaminants while relying on surface radiation to remove heat, making the frame suitable for indoor plant areas where forced ventilation is unavailable. The nameplate voltage is 90 VDC, and at that voltage the armature draws 4.7 A, a current level used for conductor sizing and fuse selection inside the control panel.
The motor delivers 1/2 HP at the shaft with a nominal speed of 1800 RPM, allowing direct coupling to gear reducers that use traditional base speeds. Its permanent-magnet DC construction maintains a nearly linear torque-speed slope, so closed-loop controllers can trim speed precisely as load varies without a separate field supply. The resulting speed response is useful in conveyor, metering, and positioning service where small changes in load should not produce large speed shifts. Stable low-speed and base-speed operation also suit feeder and transfer equipment that depends on consistent product movement through each cycle.
