Pacific Scientific produces the PC844-XYZ-F servo drive within the PC800 – PCE800 Brushless Servo Drives series. This unit is a three-phase power stage intended to regulate torque, velocity, and position of brushless servomotors in automated machinery. Acting as the intermediary between a motion controller and the motor, it converts a 240 VAC supply to a controlled DC bus and high-frequency PWM output, while exchanging real-time commands and feedback over the SERCOS Network interface for coordinated multi-axis operation.

The drive delivers a continuous shaft power of 3.0 kW (240 VAC 3-Phase) and can source motor current of 7.1 ARMS. For rapid acceleration, it supports a peak current of 30 A (zero-to-peak) or 21.2 ARMS for brief bursts, enabling dynamic loads. Power enters through a three-phase line where the RMS current is 12 A, and the inverter section works with a power-stage efficiency of 98 %. The digital current loop is processed every 62.5 µs, while SERCOS messaging may reach 16 kHz; the same 16 kHz switching drives the output ripple, keeping acoustic noise low. Continuous operation is allowed with motor inductances from 1.25 mH to 1 H, offering flexibility across multiple frame sizes.

Mechanical attributes simplify cabinet integration: the housing measures 198.1 × 114 × 158 mm and weighs 2.6 kg, so it can mount on crowded DIN rail segments without extra support. Internally, the rectifier holds the DC link at 320 VDC, which feeds the IGBT bridge that modulates phase voltage. The velocity loop bandwidth reaches 400 Hz, giving precise speed regulation when coupled to high-resolution feedback devices. Motor leads may extend up to 50 m without degrading current or position quality, allowing the servo motor to be installed farther from the drive on long production lines.
