Product Description:

The PC3405DI-001-E is a DC-powered servo drive developed by Pacific Scientific within the PC3400 Servo Drives series. As a closed-loop amplifier, it converts low-voltage bus power into phase-controlled current for brushless servo motors used in positioning tables, pick-and-place arms, and other automated machinery. The power stage accepts an input bus of 18–74 VDC, allowing the same unit to operate from mobile battery packs or rectified line supplies within that voltage range. This broad input range supports installation in both portable equipment and fixed industrial control systems without changing the drive model.

Under steady thermal conditions, the drive can supply 5 A RMS of continuous phase current, which is suitable for many NEMA 23 or small IEC motors. At that current, the available continuous output power reaches 427 W, representing the maximum sustained power available to the connected motor without exceeding the drive’s thermal limits. For rapid acceleration, the current command can climb to 10 A RMS; this short-term peak increases available motor torque but must remain within the permitted duty cycle to prevent an overtemperature alarm. These ratings apply when the surrounding cabinet temperature remains between 0 °C and 40 °C. Automatic derating protects the semiconductor devices when operating conditions exceed the rated temperature range.

The drive supports operation at elevations up to 3,300 feet. Above that elevation, the available output decreases by 2% for every additional 1,000 feet to compensate for thinner air and reduced cooling capacity. During operation, the electronics tolerate 5% to 95% noncondensing humidity, allowing use in most controlled production areas without requiring conformal-coated circuit boards. When the machine is de-energized, the drive can be stored between -25 °C and 70 °C without damage from temperatures within that range. This storage range accommodates unconditioned facilities and varying transportation conditions. The standard unit build comes without application-specific option cards, leaving the drive configured for general PC3400 platform use.
