The PC3402Dd-001-E is a compact servo drive produced by Pacific Scientific for the PC3400 Servo Drives series. As a digital module, it converts low-voltage DC power into precisely regulated three-phase output for brushless servomotors, delivering closed-loop current, velocity, and position control to automated assembly cells, pick-and-place gantries, and laboratory instruments. The drive combines power electronics, a motion processor, and multi-protocol communication ports in one enclosure, reducing panel space and wiring requirements.
For power, the drive accepts a DC bus from 18 to 74 VDC, covering 24 V to 60 V systems. Within that range, it delivers a continuous phase current of 2.5 A RMS and a peak current of 5 A RMS for acceleration. Under rated conditions, those currents correspond to 214 W of continuous mechanical output. Command generation is handled by a Thompson F168 CPU clocked at 20 MHz; 256 KB of flash memory and 256 KB of SRAM store motion programs and parameters. Closed-loop operation uses three update intervals: the current loop refreshes every 102.4 µs, velocity corrections run every 408 µs, and position calculations are performed every 2.0 ms. These short cycles allow the drive to minimize following error on small mechanical loads. The unit operates between 0 and 40 °C, matching typical control-cabinet conditions. It can be stored or transported at temperatures from -25 to 70 °C without component degradation. Parameter values are retained in onboard flash memory, allowing settings to persist after power cycling. This retention prevents the loss of configured motion values when the DC bus is disconnected during routine shutdowns or system servicing.
