The 6430-001-K-N is a microstepping drive manufactured by Pacific Scientific within the 6410 Stepper Drives series. It interfaces between a host controller and a 1.8° stepper motor, converting incoming step-and-direction pulses into controlled phase currents. This operation allows axes in automated test stands, conveyors, or small gantries to index accurately under industrial conditions.
The drive accepts a single- or three-phase mains supply of 120/240 VAC (+10%, -15%) at an input frequency of 50/60 Hz. Under full load, the line draws 2.3 A RMS, and the internal power section is rated for 300 W ±10%. Chopper regulation occurs at 20 kHz, yielding low current ripple while keeping audible noise outside the normal hearing range. The unit produces an isolated 66 VDC rail that can supply up to 4.6 A to external logic, and it reports a low-voltage fault if that rail drops to 55 VDC. The thermal design supports continuous operation at ambient temperatures up to 50 °C, with protective shutdown above this limit. Input commands must have a minimum step-pulse width of 250 ns. Direction information must be present at least 50 µs before the first step to ensure valid decoding.
Motion performance reaches a maximum step rate of 2 MHz, and microstep interpolation can reach a resolution of 51,200 steps/rev, allowing fine positioning without mechanical gearing.
