The 6410-008-N-N-N is a compact microstepping drive manufactured by Pacific Scientific within the 6410 Stepper Drives series. Designed for panel-mounted motion axes, the drive accepts step and direction signals from indexers or PLCs and modulates winding current to a two-phase motor. By integrating chopper regulation and selectable current limits, it provides accurate torque control for industrial automation tasks such as pick-and-place heads, small gantries, and labeling systems.
In operation, the drive uses a two-phase bipolar, chopper-regulated output stage that pulses the motor windings at 20 kHz to limit current while minimizing audible noise. Phase current can be adjusted from 0.625 A up to 5.0 A, allowing the same unit to run a wide range of compatible stepper motors. The temperature alarm is referenced to 60 °C on the chassis, so enclosure airflow should keep the housing below the derating threshold. Logic inputs are optically isolated; the step channel requires 5.5 mA, while the direction channel activates with 3.0 mA and tolerates 5 V of reverse bias without damage. These input thresholds let the 6410 drive connect to 5 V TTL, 12 V, or 24 V sourcing controllers without level shifting.
