At the heart of the drive is a two-phase bipolar chopper circuit that modulates winding energy at 20 kHz; this switching rate minimizes audible noise while keeping current ripple low. The power stage operates from a DC bus between 24 Vdc and 75 Vdc, giving designers flexibility when using unregulated rectifier supplies or battery packs. During acceleration bursts, the output can reach a peak of 7.1 A, and it is enabled through opto-isolated step inputs that require a minimum of 5.5 mA.
