The 6410-001-C-H-K stepper drive is produced by Pacific Scientific and is part of the 6410 Stepper Drives series. It is intended to excite two-phase hybrid stepper motors with regulated current pulses so that commanded step and direction signals translate into accurate rotary or linear motion on factory equipment. By modulating motor phase current at high frequency, the drive reduces audible noise and vibration while delivering repeatable incremental moves required in indexing stations, light conveyor sections, and semiconductor handling tools.

Electrical limits establish the performance envelope of the unit. The switching transistors chop the DC bus at 20 kHz, keeping current ripple low and enabling fine microstep operation. The power stage tolerates an input of 24–75 Vdc, letting the drive operate from common 24 V control supplies or higher-voltage machine power sources. During acceleration, the output can reach a peak phase current of 7.1 A, while continuous operation is restricted to 5.0 A RMS to prevent thermal overload. Internally, selectable microstep tables give a maximum binary resolution of 51,200 steps/rev, allowing smooth motion even on gear-reduced axes that would otherwise exhibit cogging.

The current regulator is built around a two-phase bipolar chopper topology and includes an integral heat sink that attaches directly to a panel for convective cooling. Control wiring enters through a 9-contact female D-sub connector, simplifying the interface with PLC pulse generators that supply step-and-direction logic levels. Reliable service is maintained across an ambient range of 0 to 50 °C and a non-condensing humidity window from 10% to 90% RH; colder or hotter surroundings require external conditioning. The aluminum enclosure measures 39.62 × 104.90 × 82.55 mm, permitting dense cabinet layouts, and the unit weighs 1.0 lb, easing installation on movable gantries or vision stages where mass is limited.
