Product Description:
The 6410-001 Drive is a compact stepper motor controller intended to drive two-phase stepper motors in industrial automation tasks. This drive of Pacific Scientific is a part of the 6410 stepper drive series. It is designed to provide a smooth motor motion in the automation industry. The drive features Bipolar Chopper Drive technology.
The 6410-001 stepper drive enclosure takes the small form factor measuring 1.5" W x 5" H x 4.3" D. The drive features a configurable output current ranging from 0.625 A to 5 A RMS per phase. In microstepping operation, it can deliver a peak current of up to 7.1 A of current. This occupies very little panel space (7.5 square inches) and weighs just 1 lb. The drive provides up to 51200 steps in one revolution. The 6410-001 stepper drive has Digital Electronic Damping. This decreases the instability in mid-speed ranges and holds the motor torque constant. It provides efficient current regulation and low ripple current. It also decreases the electric noise and heat dissipation. It supports a 24-volt DC to 75-volt DC input supply. The drive helps in reducing the motor current by half after 0.1 second of inactivity. This assists the motor in reducing the amount of heat produced during the standstill condition.
The 6410-001 stepper drive has a working temperature range of 0 °C to 50 °C. It has a storage temperature range of -55°C to -70 °C. The drive has optically isolated TTL-compatible step, direction, and enable inputs. The highest frequency of steps is up to 2 MHz. It operates under humid levels of 10 percent to 90 percent (non-condensing). Fault protection features line-to-line and line-to-neutral shorts, internal power supply under-voltage, and bus overvoltage protection.
Frequently Asked Questions about 6410-001:
Q: Why is bipolar chopper drive technology used in the 6410-001 stepper drive?
A: Bipolar chopper drive technology in 6410-001 enables efficient current control. It reduces ripple and noise, enhancing motor efficiency.
Q: How does the 6410-001 stepper drive maintain motor torque at mid-range speeds?
A: 6410-001 uses electronic damping to stabilize torque. This helps maintain consistent motion, especially in applications requiring precise mid-speed control.
Q: Why does the 6410-001 stepper drive reduce current after 0.1s of inactivity?
A: The 6410-001 stepper drive reduces idle current to lower thermal buildup. This extends motor life and ensures energy efficiency during idle states.
Q: What is the role of optically isolated TTL inputs in the 6410-001 stepper drive?
A: Optically isolated TTL inputs in 6410-001 prevent signal interference. They improve signal integrity and ensure safe control signal reception.
Q: How does the digital electronic damping benefit the 6410-001 stepper drive?
A: The digital electronic damping in 6410-001 minimizes mid-range resonance, improving motion smoothness. It also ensures consistent torque during variable speed operations.
