The MPS60 is a DC power supply unit built by Okuma for the MPS Power Supplies series. In an automation cabinet, it feeds servo drives and control electronics with a stabilized DC link and serves as the energy interface between the plant’s three-phase mains and the motion system. By converting incoming power and managing regenerative energy, the unit maintains bus voltage, protects downstream inverters, and supports high-power cutting or forming machines that require steady electrical capacity. This role is especially important when several axes accelerate or decelerate at the same time and the shared supply must remain stable.

The supply delivers a control output of 24 VDC for I/O boards, while its main DC bus is held at 300 VDC for drive sections. Rated capacity reaches 60 kW, which corresponds to 80 hp. An input overvoltage threshold of 253 Vrms disconnects the converter from the mains before line surges reach sensitive circuits. A power regeneration topology returns excess kinetic energy to the grid instead of dissipating it in resistors, which helps reduce heat inside the enclosure and supports continuous machine duty. The cabinet is 325 mm deep and 380 mm high, allowing back-to-back mounting with drives in dense control cabinets.

The current limit signal is set at 1.25 V, giving the host CNC a fast analog indication that the supply has reached its programmed ceiling. Operating states such as ready, alarm, or trip are shown on a compact 7-Segment LED indicator visible through the front panel, so status can be checked without removing the module. The chassis weighs 25 kg, which keeps the unit manageable during rack installation and helps avoid excessive load on the mounting structure. A front width of 300 mm leaves room for cable bend radius and airflow at the face of the cabinet. The front-panel display and analog limit signal also allow the control system to react quickly when the supply approaches its operating limit.
