The MPS60 is a DC power supply unit built by Okuma for the MPS Power Supplies series. In an automation cabinet, it feeds servo drives and control electronics with a stabilized DC link and serves as the energy interface between the plant’s three-phase mains and the motion system. By converting incoming power and managing regenerative energy, the unit maintains bus voltage, protects downstream inverters, and supports high-power cutting or forming machines that require steady electrical capacity. This role is especially important when several axes accelerate or decelerate at the same time and the shared supply must remain stable.
The supply delivers a control output of 24 VDC for I/O boards, while its main DC bus is held at 300 VDC for drive sections. Rated capacity reaches 60 kW, which corresponds to 80 hp. An input overvoltage threshold of 253 Vrms disconnects the converter from the mains before line surges reach sensitive circuits. A power regeneration topology returns excess kinetic energy to the grid instead of dissipating it in resistors, which helps reduce heat inside the enclosure and supports continuous machine duty.
