Product Description:
The MPS45 is a DC power supply unit manufactured by Okuma for the MPS Power Supplies series. Installed between the plant’s three-phase mains and the motion drives, it furnishes a stabilized DC bus and absorbs regenerative energy so downstream inverters can be smaller and thermally controlled. By combining power conversion and regenerative handling in a single housing, it supports high-duty CNC machines that require consistent voltage during rapid acceleration and braking cycles. This arrangement helps connected drive modules maintain stable operation during repeated changes in load.
The supply accepts a nominal line of 200 VAC through the R, S, and T input terminals and disconnects when the RMS value rises above 253 Vrms. Inside, an electrolytic bus capacitor bank smooths the rectified waveform and provides a constant link of 300 VDC. Logic and gate-control sections are isolated and powered from an auxiliary rail of 24 VDC, which keeps the control boards active even when the main bus is de-energized. IGBT power devices modulate current flow during both motoring and regeneration that returns excess energy to the grid. The unit is rated for 45 kW of continuous throughput, allowing multiple axis amplifiers to share one source without derating. A 1-178138-2 (AMP) ACA connector allows quick removal of low-level signals, while the XT1 M6 and XT2 M10 screw terminals secure the high-current paths.
Status information is shown on a front-mounted 7-segment LED panel that displays alarms and bus-voltage codes. The enclosure measures 300 mm in width, with a depth of 325 mm and a height of 380 mm, so it fits standard control cabinets, and it weighs 25 kg. All mounting points are grounded to provide a solid chassis reference during operation. The electrolytic capacitor vent paths are oriented upward, and the rectangular form helps maintain uniform airflow past the heat sinks.
