Product Description:
The MPS10 is a DC power supply unit produced by Okuma as part of the MPS Power Supplies series. Installed inside CNC cabinets, the module converts incoming line energy into regulated DC outputs that feed spindle and axis electronics as well as low-voltage control circuits. Its power-regeneration topology returns recovered kinetic energy to the DC link instead of dissipating it as heat. By combining bus power support with a separate control supply, the unit serves both motion hardware and machine supervision functions from one cabinet module.
It delivers a logic rail of 24 VDC, while its chopper section maintains a bus voltage of 300 VDC for the drive stack. Overcurrent events are flagged by a feedback level of 1.25 V, allowing the controller to reduce demand before protective shutdown. To protect against abnormal mains conditions, the unit trips when input exceeds 253 Vrms. The sampling electronics operate at 16.7 msec at 60 Hz, matching one AC cycle and supporting synchronous detection. Additional parameters include an internal scale factor of 1/151 for voltage measurement and a ripple value of 3.8 V pp at 200 V for internal monitoring. This measurement behavior helps the control system track bus conditions during load changes and regenerated energy flow.
The continuous rating reaches 10 kW, equivalent to 13 hp, so a single unit can service several axes on mid-sized machines. Cabinet layout is simplified by a face width of 100 mm combined with a height of 380 mm and a depth of 325 mm. The assembly weighs only 7.7 kg, so it is easier to position during installation. The metal housing dissipates operating losses without dedicated blowers, which helps preserve cabinet space for adjacent drive modules and wiring. This output level is suitable for machine platforms that coordinate multiple motion channels during normal operation.
