The FUB-P4R2 is an input/output servo module manufactured by Okuma for automated machine tools in the FUB Servo Modules series. Installed on the motion-control backplane, the unit translates controller signals to field wiring so sensors, switches, and actuators can be read or driven in real time. This arrangement expands a CNC system’s digital I/O capacity inside the existing control architecture and allows peripheral devices to be monitored and commanded without separate stand-alone interface hardware. Because it sits inside the machine control rack, it also reduces the need for external interface boxes and keeps signal exchange close to the CNC.
Signal handling is arranged through 32 discrete inputs that occupy a 4-byte input image. Each input channel passes through photocoupler isolation and accepts a 24 VDC input level, which helps separate field signals from internal control electronics. Outputs are provided as 16 relay outputs driven by a relay interface and mapped to two bytes of controller memory. Address selection uses binary encoding, with eight switch positions used to set the slot address, while the “8 On” end-of-loop setting terminates the segment and the control logic prevents an all-off switch state so the board remains addressable. The plug-in headers labeled XB1 through XB6 provide the physical connection points for field wiring.
The electromechanical contacts in the relay section can switch up to a 125 VAC switching limit on alternating-current loads or a 30 VDC switching limit on direct-current loads, both within a continuous 2 A contact rating. Those limits fit low-power devices such as solenoids, indicator lamps, and small control relays that are powered directly through the module. Using relay contacts also lets the module switch AC or DC loads without requiring the same output electronics for every field device type. Eight onboard switches also allow individual points to be disabled during circuit service while the remaining channels continue operating, which makes it easier to isolate a single device or wiring path without interrupting every connected signal on the card.
